Hurricane Michael was a strong Category 4 storm as it made landfall near Mexico Beach, Fla., with maximum sustained winds of 155 mph. Michael’s winds were the fourth strongest to impact the U.S., behind the Labor Day hurricane in 1935 (185 mph), Camille in 1969 (175 mph), and Andrew in 1992 (165 mph). The barometric pressure of Michael was the third lowest on record, behind the Labor Day hurricane and Camille. In Connecticut, a cold front approaching on Thursday will generate showers that will become steadier and heavier through the day and the evening.
