“The Mindy Project” star Ike Barinholtz will discuss growing up in Chicago in his upcoming humor book to be released in 2017.

Barinholtz, 38, will detail how “the son of two Polish butchers rose from being a Chicago street thug to a Tea Party activist and reality show watcher,” according to Grand Central Publishing, which announced Monday it acquired Barinholtz’s collection of humor essays.

The untitled book is scheduled to be released in fall 2017.

“I’m thrilled to be able to share my thoughts with the world, and my piping hot takes will cover all the bases: Comedy, showbiz, sex, Hollywood, the Chicago Bulls of the 90’s, sex and drugs, movies, politics, the ‘Biz,’ pizza and travel, religion and entertainment,” Barinholtz said in a statement.

Barinholtz, who was born in the Rogers Park neighborhood and raised in Lakeview, is an alum of the Chicago comedy scene. He performed at iO Theater and the Annoyance Theatre before moving to Los Angeles 15 years ago.

He will star with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler in the upcoming comedy film “Sisters,” which comes out in December.

After being canceled by Fox, “The Mindy Project” is expected to start streaming Season 4 on Hulu in September.
