Juan Soto, the Nationals’ 19-year-old rookie sensation, belted a pair of homers - including a 436-foot solo shot off Chasen Shreve in the seventh inning that was the difference in Washington’s 5-4 victory over the Yankees.
Soto (19 years, 231 days) is the fifth-youngest player in the live ball era with a multi-homer game, behind only former Cub Danny Murphy, Mel Ott, Ken Griffey Jr. and Andruw Jones.
The two teams ended up splitting their two-game series. They will play a pair in D.C. on Monday, one of them the continuation of a suspended game.
