Sources: Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman poised to become next state Democratic Party chair

All signs are pointing to Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman, who is arguably the most popular Democratic officeholder in Connecticut, taking over the reins of the party’s top leadership post under a deal brokered by Gov.-elect Ned Lamont and current party chairman Nick Balletto.

The accord was reached late Wednesday night, sources say, after a dinner meeting at New Haven’s Portofino restaurant between the city’s Democratic power brokers, Lamont and Lamont’s newly-appointed chief of staff, Ryan Drajewicz.

Multiple sources briefed on the meeting confirmed the details to The Courant, but asked not to be identified as they were not authorized to speak on behalf of the party.
