Wheaton singer eager to inspire on 'American Idol'

Even as a 10-year-old boy, Sam Sohmer took “American Idol” very seriously. The Wheaton-raised singer said he was devastated when David Cook beat David Archuleta in 2008 for the Season 7 title.

“I remember wigging out in my family room. My parents, they were David Cook fans, and they were celebrating and then I was just so upset so I just ran out of the room,” Sohmer said.
