Last year, they joined septuagenarian R&B wildcard Andre Williams on "Night and Day," a set of grimy, groove-rich songs about love, race and substance abuse. In 2009, they teamed with John Doe, co-founder of the legendary L.A. punk band X, on "Country Club," an album of country covers.
As drummer Mike Belitsky sees it, the Canadian quartet is about due to follow up on 2010's "Darker Circles," the last proper Sadies release, but he says he and his bandmates have hardly felt creatively unfulfilled.
