Rising Pint BrewFest

The Rising Pint BrewFest returns to East Hartford’s Rentschler Field May 12 at 1 p.m, featuring tastings of craft beer from dozens of breweries, eats from local restaurants and food trucks and live music. Restaurants and food vendors include Bear’s Smokehouse, Caseus Cheese Truck, NoRA Cupcake Company, Plan B Burger Bar and Toasted. $45 in advance and $55 the day of the 21-plus event, includes free parking, admission and commemorative tasting cup. Daring Doggies

Chris Perondi’s Stunt Dog Experience comes to the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts, 166 Capitol Ave. in Hartford, on May 12, when rescue dogs will perform tricks and stunts, dance and do athletic feats. Hooker Day Parade

This boisterous, unconventional procession returns to Hartford’s Bushnell Park Saturday, May 12, from noon to 5 p.m. This year the parade and festival remain contained to the park.

“Marchers will line up around the perimeter of the park and when it is time to march they will march to the center. Families and individuals who came out to watch will already be there in the center,” organizer Jeff Devereux says. “We will give the groups that march a couple of minutes each to … play a song, do a performance, a dance, a song, tell a story.”

Participants will include Tang Sauce, who will be the emcee, as well as UZOO, Arien Wilkerson, Hartford Hot Several, the Hartford Proud Drill, Drum and Dance Corp. and other performers. bushnellpark.org

Chefs, A Forum And Food Trucks

The Connecticut Forum presents “Chefs & The Art of Food” May 12 at 8 p.m. at the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts in Hartford. Panelists include restaurateur, author and media personality David Chang; Gabrielle Hamilton, chef/owner of Prune in New York City and author of two New York Times bestsellers; and celebrity chef and restaurateur Tom Colicchio, head judge on Bravo’s “Top Chef.” Sam Sifton, food editor at the New York Times, will moderate. A food truck festival starts at 4 p.m. outside the Bushnell, featuring live music and entertainment. Festival admission is free, with food and drink for sale.
