Brian Cespedes, a 6-foot-7, 260-pound offensive tackle at New London High committed to the UConn football program Friday. Cespedes is the 17th recruit to commit for 2015.

Two Assigned To Wolf Pack

The Rangers recalled forward Chris Mueller from the Wolf Pack and assigned forwards Jesper Fast and J.T. Miller to Hartford. Mueller had a goal, posted a plus-one rating, and recorded two shots on goal in Hartford's regular season opener Sunday at Syracuse.

USF 2, UConn 0: UConn lost to South Florida in women's soccer at Morrone Stadium. The loss drops the Huskies to 9-4-4 and 2-2-3 in the American Athletic Conference, while the Bulls improve to 8-6-1 and 3-3-0.

Central 2, Sacred Heart 0: Sophomore goalkeeper Niki Turley posted her fourth shutout of the season as Central women's soccer posted a 2-0 victory at home over Sacred Heart on Friday. The Blue Devils are 7-4-3 overall and 2-1-1 in NEC action. Sacred Heart falls to 6-7-2 overall and 1-2-1 league play.

UConn 7, Providence 1: Six different Huskies scored as No. 4 UConn field hockey cruised to a 7-1 victory over Providence Friday night in Storrs. UConn improves to 10-2 (3-0 Big East), while Providence falls to 9-7 (1-2 Big East).

UMass Lowell 6, Quinnipiac 3: Quinnipiac men's hockey dropped a 6-3 decision to UMass Lowell Friday night in Hamden. Sam Anas, Justin Agosta and Andrew Taverner scored for Quinnipiac (1-1-0). UMass Lowell improves to (2-0-0).
