John Harbaugh says it was 'great' that Jim Harbaugh attended Ravens-Steelers game

"It was great to have him there," John Harbaugh says about Jim Harbaugh attending the Ravens game Saturday.

The enthusiastic presence of University of Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh wearing a Ravens jacket on the sideline Saturday at Heinz Field coincided with a playoff win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Could that lead John Harbaugh to try to convince his younger brother to attend the Ravens' AFC divisional round playoff game against the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium?

“I don’t know if he has a recruiting weekend or what this weekend,” John Harbaugh said. “I told him, ‘That’s probably pretty good recruiting, you know?’ You tell those guys, ‘You want to play in the NFL, come to Michigan.’ That’s a recruiting pitch, right?”

Jim Harbaugh, who initially had on a Michigan jacket and his trademark khakis before changing into a Ravens jacket and hat before kickoff, cheered on the Ravens from the bench area.

“It was great to have him there, and it seemed like he enjoyed it,” John Harbaugh said. “He was able to enjoy the environment. When you’re coaching, you don’t really enjoy the environment that much.

"I saw him looking around, up at the crowd and the players, and interacting with guys, and that was neat to see.”

Before Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman re-signed with New England as a free agent, there were some conversations about a potential link between him and the Ravens. Edelman wound up never visiting the Ravens, though, as they quickly struck a three-year, $11 million deal with five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Steve Smith. Edelman has caught 92 passes for 972 yards and four touchdowns this season. “He’s a great football player, he’s a guy you have to know where he’s at, at all times,” Harbaugh said. “He can play anywhere, in the backfield, he lines up at all the receiver positions.” … Due to wintry weather predicted for Tuesday, the Ravens have pushed back their car decorating event at M&T Bank Stadium to Wednesday from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.
