Solomon M. Beck

Solomon M Beck, 88, of Enfield, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, Aug 29, 2018. Born in Hartford, CT, in 1929, he was the son of the late Hyman and Florence Beck. Solomon was a good son to his mother and father. When his father was ailing, he and his brother Irving helped out at the family's butcher shop, keeping the store going, and when his mother fell ill, Solomon and his sister Roselyn lovingly took care of her until she passed, while brother Louis served our country in the military. Solomon graduated Weaver High. He proudly served in the USAF during the Korean War. He worked at the Hartford Provision Company for 34 years until retirement. Solomon is survived by his sister Roselyn Eichelman, nieces Cynthia Fox and husband David, Rhonda Zera and husband Gary, Cheri Beck, Wendy Hess and husband David, and nephews Donald Beck and wife Karen, Howard Eichelman and wife Pam, Marty Eichelman and wife Jean, Fred Eichelman and wife Mary. He was predeceased by his brothers Louis Beck and sister-in-law Ruth Beck, Irving Beck and sister-in-law Judith Beck, and brother-in-law Walter Eichelman. He especially missed his best friend and companion, his Doberman, Princess. Solomon enjoyed meeting his group of friends at Friendly's and at the old Abdows in Enfield. He was the quintessential bargain shopper. He found so many items at bargain prices, which he would generously give to his nieces, nephews, and donated special items to others. Solomon was an avid Red Sox and Patriots Fan. He would never miss a game on TV. He enjoyed viewing classic cars at the local shows. The family would like to thank the folks at Kimberly Hall South in Windsor, St. Francis Hospital Unit 8-1, Masonicare Hospice, and Leonard Holtz of the Hebrew Funeral Association for the help and support they provided to Solomon along his final journey home. Funeral services will be private and at a time of convenience for the immediate family. May his memory be a source of strength and blessing. Funeral arrangements by Hebrew Funeral Association, West Hartford.
