Week 4 Friday Night Football: Engel Huge In Stafford Co-Op Win

Nuzzolo Helps Secure Glastonbury Victory

Colton Engel ran for 220 yards and four touchdowns, including a 2-yard touchdown with 39 seconds left to help the co-op team of Stafford, East Windsor and Somers beat the co-op of SMSA, University and Classical 31-26 in a Pequot Uncas game Friday at Dillon Stadium in Hartford.

Engel ran for scores of 15, 14, 9 and 2 yards on 32 carries for Stafford (4-0).

Daniel Hernandez caught a 30-yard touchdown pass from Devin Hill in the fourth quarter to give SMSA a 26-25 lead, but Engel rushed for his fourth touchdown after Stafford marched down the field.

Hill passed for three touchdowns, including a pair to Hayden Jordan in the second quarter for SMSA (2-2).

Josh McLeggon ran for a 19-yard touchdown in the third quarter for SMSA. Engel answered with a 25-yard TD pass to Jeff Kology.

Granby 14, Ellington 7: Sam Attianese returned an interception 70 yards for a touchdown with 8:22 left to give visiting Granby a victory over Ellington in a Pequot Uncas game.

Christian Warren ran for an 11-yard touchdown and Jackson Rome rushed for 108 yards for Granby (2-2). Ellington is 0-4.


Glastonbury 14, Manchester 13: Julice Sams ran for 116 yards and an 8-yard touchdown and Gino Nuzzolo intercepted a Manchester pass with 27 seconds left to help Glastonbury beat visiting Manchester in a CCC Division I East game.

Glastonbury (2-2) took a 14-0 lead headed into the second half, but needed a defensive stop in the final minute to get the victory. Jahkye Thompson caught a 40-yard touchdown pass and Yamil Valdes caught a 7-yard touchdown pass from Gabriel Fountain to help Manchester (1-3) make it 14-13 in the third quarter. The Indians failed to convert an extra point after the Valdes touchdown catch.

Sams opened the first quarter with his score for the Tomahawks and Carson Marscheck caught a 13-yard touchdown pass from Drew Daniels to add to the lead. Brandon Myers had 11 tackles and Ryan Molinari had two interceptions for Glastonbury.

Fountain passed for 72 yards.

East Hartford 62, Enfield 30: Raquan Tompkins passed for four touchdowns and ran for another two as East Hartford defeated Enfield in a CCC Div. I East game at East Hartford High School.

Tompkins, who was 9-for-15 for 219 yards, threw two touchdown passes to Kevon Jones and one each to Jaden Gardner and Jaquan Allen. Tompkins also ran for touchdowns of 79 and 15 yards. Jones had four catches for 107 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 83 yards an a 1-yard touchdown.

Jamar Eaton also had back-to-back kickoff returns for touchdowns of 90 and 81 yards for East Hartford. Christian Gonzalez and Collin Attwood rushed for touchdowns for Enfield (0-4).

Wethersfield 17, Platt 7: Rossano DiGiacomo ran for 91 yards and a 36-yard touchdown to help Wethersfield beat Platt in a CCC Div. II West game at Cottone Field.

Michael Messina kicked a 33-yard field goal in the third quarter for a 17-0 Wethersfield lead. Ryan Skelly caught a 27-yard touchdown pass from Craig Elliott for Wethersfield (1-3). A.J. Marinelli passed for 220 yards and a 26-yard touchdown pass for Platt (3-1).

Maloney 34, Bristol Central 7: Larue Graham passed for a pair of touchdowns and ran for a 1-yard score as Maloney beat Bristol Central in a CCC Division II West game at Falcon Field in Meriden.

Graham was 11-for-16 and passed for 139 yards for Maloney (3-1). Aden Valentin, who caught a touchdown pass, ran for 176 yards and two touchdowns for Maloney. Dathan Hickey ran for 86 yards and one touchdown for Bristol Eastern (2-2).

Northwest Catholic 37, Plainville 0: Spencer Merkel ran for 162 yards and two touchdowns and Paris Carpenter returned a kickoff 60 yards for a touchdown as Northwest Catholic defeated Plainville in a CCC Div. III West game in West Hartford.

Merkel ran for scores of 55 yards and 1 yard for the Lions (1-3). Carpenter ran for 57 yards and a touchdown. Marcelino La Bella had four interceptions and Isaac Riley ran back a fumble 25 yards for a touchdown. Plainville is 1-3.

Tolland 35, East Catholic 0: Ryan Carlson ran for two touchdowns and caught a 33-yard touchdown pass from Jonny Lindquist as Tolland defeated East Catholic in a CCC interdivision game in Manchester.

Carlson rushed for touchdowns of 53 and 3 yards for the Eagles (2-1). Collin Cook also ran for a pair of touchdowns.


O'Brien Tech 13, Cheney Tech 7: Jommar Roc rushed for a pair of touchdowns to help O'Brien Tech beat Cheney Tech in CTC game in Manchester.

Roc ran for scores of 8 and 5 yards for O'Brien Tech (4-0). Josh Holman ran for a 64-yard TD and caught an interception for Cheney Tech (2-2). Jaedon Jones ran for 102 yards and also had an interception.


Cheshire Academy 35, Brunswick 14: Bryce Sebastian ran for a pair of first-half touchdowns as Cheshire Academy defeated Brunswick School in Greenwich.

Sebastian ran for 90 yards and scored on runs of 9 and 7 yards. Quarterback Josh Commune threw TD passes to Chase Kinzly and Cristos Argys, and ran for a 1-yard touchdown. Jared Martino ran for 175 yards on 22 carries. Nick Henkel threw two TD passes for Brunswick.
