George Springer's MVP Performance Applauded By New Britain, UConn And Beyond

George Springer was a bit undersized when he tried out for varsity baseball at Avon old Farms as a freshman. Wednesday night, the New Britain native was larger than life as he cranked his fifth home run of the World Series, leading the Houston Astros to their first ever championship.

Springer was named the World Series MVP as the team clinched the seventh game with a 5-1 victory. Here’s how family, the UConn community, the baseball community and others reacted to Springer’s success:
