Branson Country Christmas & Veteran's Show
EAST HARTFORD — The St. Edmund Campion Social Club of East Hartford is sponsoring a day trip, Branson Country Christmas & Veteran's Show, on Tuesday, Nov. 20, at the Log Cabin in Holyoke, Mass.
Pickup is at the St. Christopher Church parking lot, 538 Brewer St., at 10:15 a.m. The trip will return at approximately 4 p.m. Cost is $86 per person and includes a chicken piccata and yankee pot roast luncheon, round trip motor coach transportation, driver gratuities and an afternoon of music with the Ozark Jubilee.

Senior Center News
EAST HARTFORD — The East Hartford Senior Center, 70 Canterbury St., is offering the following events and programs. Call 860-568-4281 for more information.
A flu shot will take place on Friday, Oct. 19, from 1 to 3 p.m. Bring your Medicare insurance card and ID.
Volunteers in the computer room work with guests individually. A volunteer is available on Tuesdays from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. You can bring your laptop, tablet or any questions. Staff from the East Hartford Public Library will host a tech drop-in help session once a month at the Senior Center. No registration is necessary for the help sessions.
The Aging Mastery Program is a 10-week course developed by the National Council on Aging that encourages developing behaviors across many dimensions that will lead to improved health, stronger financial security and overall well-being. The course materials are valued at $60 per person but through the support of the Anthem Foundation and the Healthy Living Collective, the center is able to offer the class at no charge. The course begins on Monday, Oct. 22, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and will run through Jan. 14. The curriculum includes informative materials, expert speakers, and group discussions on the following topics: Navigating Longer Lives: The Basics of Aging Mastery, Exercise and You, Healthy Eating, Sleep, Financial Fitness, Medication Management, Advance Planning, Falls Prevention, Healthy Relationships, and Community Engagement.

The 60s Satisfaction Band will perform on Friday, Oct. 26, at 1 p.m. Dessert is sponsored by Riverside Health and Rehabilitation. Tickets are on sale in the Senior Center office for $2 per person and includes the show, coffee and dessert.
Through a collaborative grant to senior centers in the area, the East Hartford Senior Center is able to offer a 24-week evidence-based program Tai Ji Quan: Moving for Better Balance beginning Monday, Nov. 5. The classes are designed for older adults with balance difficulties and are offered at no cost to the participant Mondays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to noon, for 24 weeks. No Tai Chi experience is necessary. Sign up early in the Senior Center office. All participants must make a commitment to attend 75-percent of the classes.
Music Making For Those With Alzheimer's Disease
EAST HARTFORD — Join Hebrew Senior Care and The Alzheimer's Association as they make music together. Pre-registration is required. Shared Voices is an intergenerational chorus, non-skill based, that gives people diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease or related dementia and their families a chance to do something fun.
Rehearsals are October 2018 through February 2019 and take place twice a month on Saturday afternoons at Goodwin College, 1 Riverside Drive. When Town Hall is closed or East Hartford Public Schools have a delayed opening or are closed due to bad weather, Hockanum Park and Veterans Terrace Mobile Foodshare sites will be canceled that day.

EAST HARTFORD — The East Hartford Lions Club will be hosting a craft show on Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Club, 200 Clement Road. Garden Club Invites New Members
EAST HARTFORD — The East Hartford Garden Club invites all those with a green thumb, or those who wish it was green, to join the club. Meetings take place the fourth Monday of each month, beginning in September through June, at the South End Senior Center, 70 Canterbury St.
