Troopers Safely Stop Wrong-Way, DUI Driver On Route 15

Troopers managed to stop an intoxicated driver heading the wrong way on Route 15 in Orange, state police said.

Flavio Rogerio Bueno, 39, was charged with DUI, driving the wrong way on a divided highway and operating a motor vehicle without a license.

The incident happened about 2 a.m. Monday, when troopers received a call reporting the vehicle heading north in the southbound lanes of the parkway near Exit 56. Troopers stopped the vehicle safely inear Exit 58, state police said.

State police tweeted dashcam footage of the vehicle heading in the wrong direction on Thursday afternoon.

“This video offers as a reminder that wrong-way drivers often think the left lane is the right lane or correct lane for their direction of travel,” state police said.

Bueno refused to perform field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. He was released after posting $10,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in Superior Court in Derby on Tuesday.
