New Haven Police Look For Driver In Fatal Hit-And-Run

Police are looking for witnesses to a weekend hit-and-run that killed pedestrian.

Shaneka Woods, 38, was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at Yale-New Haven Hospital early Saturday, Officer David Hartman said Tuesday.

The collision happened about 3 a.m. at the intersection of Orange Avenue and Ella T. Grasso Boulevard, Hartman said. After Woods was struck by the first vehicle, a second car hit her.

The first driver left the scene and police were not able to get a description of the vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle stayed and talked to police, he said.

Crash investigators responded and have been investigating, Hartman said. Police urge anyone who saw the collision or who has information about it to call detectives at 203-946-6304. Calls may be made anonymously.
