National Weather Service: Flood Advisory In Effect For Parts Of The State

A flood advisory is in effect for parts of Hartford, Tolland and Windham counties until 3 p.m., the National Weather Service said.

Heavy rain late Wednesday morning and early in the afternoon prompted the noon advisory, which is directed mostly at the northern parts of the state.

“Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to heavy showers and thunderstorms. This will cause minor flooding,” the weather service warned. “Overflowing poor drainage areas will result in minor flooding in the advisory area.”

Rainy weather may continue Wednesday and Thursday, the service said. There a possibility of a thunderstorm after 4 p.m. Wednesday, and there a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms Thursday.

The weather will improve Friday, when it’s expected to be partly sunny with a high temperature near 78, the weather service said.

The weekend should be mostly sunny, with highs in the low 80s, it said.
