Robert Mazzaferro, 21, of 455 Middletown Ave., faces charges that include first-degree larceny, possession of burglar tools and conspiracy. He was being held Monday on bail of $10,000 for a court appearance on Oct. 25.
Early on Oct. 4, an officer saw two people in the parking lot of Xpress Fuel, 530 Main St., in East Hartford. Their faces were concealed and one was carrying a crowbar, police spokesman Lt. Joshua Litwin said.
As the officer approached, the pair fled in a car that was later found to be stolen, Litwin said. The ensuing chase ended on Ellington Road in South Windsor, where officers from that town laid down tire-flattening “stop sticks,” Litwin said.
Mazzaferro and the juvenile, who had been driving the stolen car, were arrested without incident, Litwin said. Burglary tools and other items that may be related to other break-ins were found inside the vehicle, he said. Police are continuing to investigate.
