Bloomfield House Seriously Damaged In Fire

A woman escaped injury Thursday morning when she fled a fire that seriously damaged a Bloomfield house.

The fire at 12 Park Ave. was reported sometime before 8 a.m. At 9 a.m., smoke was still rising from the Cape Cod-style house.

It took about 25 minutes to get the fire under control, Fire Chief Willie Jones said.

The home is uninhabitable, he said. Much of the roof is missing.

The fire appears to have started on the right side of the house, in the area of a porch, Jones said.

The home was built in 1940, according to assessment records.

The fire marshal is investigating.
