Allied Printing Installs Nearly 4,600 Rooftop Solar Panels

Manchester printer covers entire headquarters with solar panels — 4,591 of them

MANCHESTER — Allied Printing has finished turning the roof of its headquarters on One Allied Way into a giant solar array, with 4,591 panels, enough to supply up to 20 percent of its power needs, the company said Monday.

Installation atop the 275,000-square-foot building began in April, and a ceremony Thursday marked completion of the project, said Catherine Dougan, director of administration for Allied Printing.

Allied Printing said the installation is one of the largest rooftop solar panel displays in the state, if not the largest.

EnterSolar, a New York-based solar-panel installation company, installed the panels.

The goal of the solar panels is to reduce Allied Printing's carbon footprint, Dougan said.

"Our company has been very environmentally sensitive since we started," Dougan said. "This is just the latest in our commitment to the environment and to renewable energy."

Allied Printing, a full-service printing and design company, will rely on a combination of wind energy and traditional electricity to fulfill the rest of its energy needs, she said.
