Host Christopher O'Riley and a talented crew of youngsters, including 13-year-old pianist and Darien resident Chelsea Guo, head to UConn's Jorgensen Center on Saturday, Nov. 1 for a live taping of popular NPR show "From The Top."
The show, which features young classically trained players from all over the country, is broadcast nationally on 250 stations and reaches 700,000 listeners, according to a press release. It's now in its 15th season.
Guo, a high school student in Darien who studies at the Juilliard Pre-College Division, will perform Franz Schubert's Impromptu in B-flat Major, Op. 142, No. 3. Other performers include Bellevue, Wash. violinist Charlotte Marckx, 11, and her sister, cellist Olivia Marckx, 13; cellist Derek Louie, 16, from New York; oboist Cassie Pilgrim, 17, from Chamblee, Georgia; and the teenage Clemens String Quartet -- violinist KJ McDonald, violinist Jason Corbin, violist Patrick Marsh, and cellist Alex Mansour -- who arrive in Storrs from Los Angeles.
