‘It Happened On Fifth Avenue’ At Atheneum Among Holiday Movies

Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, 600 Main St. in Hartford, ends its 2016 Autumn Film Program on Dec. 18 with an underappreciated 1947 holiday classic.

The romantic comedy “It Happened on Fifth Avenue” stars Don Defore and Ann Harding. I tells the story of a homeless man who moves into a vacated mansion and starts inviting other homeless people to live with him. Then the owners come home.

It will be shown at 2 p.m. Admission to the film is free with museum admission. thewadsworth.org

“A Christmas Carol,” the 1951 adaptation of Charles Dickens’ holiday story starring Alastair Sim. Dec. 15, at 5:30 p.m. at Yale Center for British Art, 1080 Chapel St. in New Haven.

“A Christmas Story,” the 1983 comedy about a boy who wants a BB gun for Christmas. Dec. 20 at 1 p.m. at Cheshire library. PG.

“Love Actually,” the Alan Rickman-Emma Thompson 2003 story about many couples in love. Dec. 17 at 7:30 p.m. at East Hartford Community Cultural Center, 50 Chapman Place. R.
