Scotts’ Jamaican Bakery celebrates four decades of authentic Jamaican baked goods and cuisine with throwback pricing on its anniversary date.

On Nov. 27, 40 years to the day George and Pauline Scott founded the company, all three Scotts’ locations will sell a beef patty and coco bread combo for $1 (one special per person) from 2 to 4 p.m., a nod to 1978 prices. Other specials will be announced on Facebook and Instagram.

The family-owned and operated company started out at 1287 Albany Avenue in the North End of Hartford, then moved into the current flagship location at 1344 Albany Avenue in 1979, according to a news release. Scotts’ other Hartford retail locations are at 3381 Main Street and 630 Blue Hills Avenue.

Beyond baked goods and breads, Scotts’ has expanded its product line over the years, offering hot Jamaican dishes like brown stew chicken, curried goat and oxtail and beans, with sides of rice and peas and steamed veggies. Locations also offer traditional Jamaican beverages like carrot juice, Irish moss and sorrel. Information: scottsjamaicanbakery.com.
