Connecticut Restaurants Host Chinese New Year Celebrations

Celebrate the Year of the Rooster this weekend with special menus and cultural events at these Connecticut restaurants.

Shu Restaurants in Fairfield and West Hartford, and Han Restaurant in Hartford, present the essence of Sichuan opera with special performances of Chinese face-mask changing, in celebration of Chinese New Year. Shu Fairfield hosts its performance Saturday at 7:30 p.m.; Shu West Hartford’s is Sunday at 6:30 p.m. and Han hosts Sunday at 7:30 p.m.

Forbidden City Bistro, 335 Main St., Middletown, offers a special Chinese New Year menu Jan. 27 through Feb. 2, with dishes like soy-lacquered flatiron steak with baked vegetable rice ($24); spice-rubbed monkfish with congee ($26) and ramen with seafood in a Nyonya curry broth ($22.)
