Ordinary In New Haven: One Of 'Greatest Bars In The World'

Magazine names @OrdinaryNH one of the world's "greatest bars"

New Haven's Ordinary: one of the world's best bars? According to Conde Nast Traveler, it's in good company among 30 top watering holes throughout the globe.

The Chapel Street cocktail bar in a storied Elm City building, which has served as some sort of drinking establishment for centuries, was recently listed in the magazine's "Greatest Bars in the World" feature.

Ordinary earned the nod from Meaghan Dorman, head bartender at Raines Law Room and Dear Irving in New York, who said she loves the bar's "rich, delicious barrel-aged Stinger variation" and its frequent thematic "cocktail lab" workshops. The two-year-old New Haven bar joins a lineup of famous and time-honored lounges in New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Las Vegas, New Orleans, Tokyo, Hong Kong, London, Paris, Singapore, the Netherlands and Sydney.

Brothers Jason and Tom Sobocinski of Caseus Fromagerie & Bistro, Mike Farber of MiKro Beer Bar and Tim Cabral partnered to open Ordinary in 2013 in the former Richter's space. The menu features snacks, charcuterie and cheese boards and smoked meats to complement its classic and inventive cocktails, wines and draft beers.
