Onyx Moonshine hosts a Secret Stash Beer Bash Aug. 29 at Goodwin College in East Hartford, a beer-tasting event featuring local Connecticut brews that have been aged in spent Onyx Moonshine whiskey barrels.
Twenty participating state breweries have received one 5-gallon barrel to produce their barrel-aged beer; the beers will be judged by event guests. The winner will have access to Onyx’s spent Secret Stash barrels for one year for a commercial release of a limited-edition Secret Stash beer.
Participating breweries include: Back East Brewery and Thomas Hooker Brewing Company in Bloomfield, DuVig Brewing and Thimble Island in Branford, Firefly Hollow in Bristol, Olde Burnside in East Hartford, Overshores Brewing Co in East Haven, Broad Brook Brewing in East Windsor, Cambridge House Brewing in Granby, City Steam in Hartford, Stubborn Beauty Brewing in Middletown, Bru Rm in New Haven, Black Hog Brewing in Oxford, Cottrell Brewing Co in Pawcatuck, Relic Brewing in Plainville, Southport Brewing in Southport, Half Full Brewery in Stamford, Two Roads in Stratford, Beer'd Brewing in Stonington, Willimantic Brewing in Willimantic, Shebeen Brewing in Wolcott, New England Brewing in Woodbridge and Top Shelf Brewery in Manchester.
The festival begins at 5 p.m. Tickets are $40 and include a pilsner tasting glass and food samples; designated driver tickets are $15 and include unlimited soft drinks. Proceeds will benefit Goodwin College scholarship programs. Information and tickets: goodwin.edu/giving/secret-stash.asp.
