If your 2016 New Year's resolution was to be more spontaneous, or more adventurous, Max Catering & Events' newest dinner may be a good place to start.
"UNO" on Jan. 30 is a pop-up event shrouded in mystery. The menu is secret, as is the location - guests won't be told where they're going until 24 hours before the dinner's start time. Managing partner and chef Scott Miller would only share that the venue is in greater Hartford, and it's somewhere "people wouldn't typically think about going for a dining experience."
"It's a really cool concept," he said. "We're able to do something that's completely outside the box."
The "UNO" dinner is intended to be intimate, exclusive and fully interactive, with a multiple-course menu focused on local ingredients and unique drink pairings by Max Restaurant Group beverage director Brian Mitchell. "This is for the adventurous eater," Miller said. "We can really push the boundaries with the food and beverage."
Miller said more pop-up dinners are in the works in the next few months, all at unconventional locations within the Hartford area. "We want people to understand that Hartford is great, and there are so many opportunities for people to see these places in a new light."
"UNO" begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $110; click here to buy. Max Catering recommends that guests communicate dietary restrictions at the time of ticket purchase.
