JJ's Italian Kitchen Of Hamden To Appear On 'Rachael Ray Show'

A Connecticut restaurant couple is bringing their Parmesan proficiency to national TV.

Joseph and Julie Dusa, the owners of JJ's Italian Kitchen in Hamden, will appear on "The Rachael Ray Show" April 19, in a "Parm-Off" competition. The episode will air at 10 a.m. on ABC.

"Two couples with delis devoted to the classic dish are going head-to-head to impress three tough food critics…Italian grandmothers!" the episode description reads.

In a press release, the Dusas said they were contacted by the show at the end of March. They welcomed a film crew to their State Street restaurant in early April, and then traveled to New York to tape the show.

"We couldn't be more proud to bring a piece of our Connecticut community to a highly visible international talk show," Julie Dusa said.

JJ's Italian Kitchen features hot and cold subs and sandwiches, panini, calzones, pizza and Italian entrees, including eggplant and chicken Parmesan. In 2016, the restaurant's eggplant rollatini won a "Best Bites" award at a Hamden Regional Chamber of Commerce tasting event.

JJ's is at 2642 State Street. 203-230-0100, jjsitaliankitchen.com.
