Dine On A Farm This Summer In Connecticut

Dine on a farm this summer, with special events featuring local produce

Dine outdoors in tranquil pastoral settings across the state this season. Local organizations have announced 2015 schedules for special summer and fall farm dinners, showcasing the best of seasonal produce, dairy, seafood and meats from Connecticut and the region.

Max Chef to Farm, in its 7th season, will host a series of themed alfresco dinners at locations throughout Connecticut. Events include seasonal meals featuring local seafood, corn, tomatoes, vegan fare and brunch at venues like Rosedale Farm and Vineyard in Simsbury, Graywall Farm in Lebanon and Sub Edge Farm in Farmington. GoldBurgers in Newington, fresh off a James Beard House appearance in March, hosts four dinners at neighboring Eddy Farm. The BYOB events on June 21, July 23, Sept. 3 and Oct. 4 will feature a "hearty take on farm fare," with local sourcing and a variety of courses. Eddy Farm also hosts an Aug. 27 dinner with Barcelona Wine Bar and Eric Stagl, executive chef at the West Hartford location. Each course will be paired with wines from the restaurant's list. Details are forthcoming; contact Barcelona Wine Bar for more information. 

Dinners at the Farm, in its 9th season, has announced a schedule of events held at Madison's Barberry Hill Farm and East Lyme's White Gate Farm. Barberry Hill hosts five dinners from July 22-26 and White Gate hosts five dinners from Aug. 5-9. Tickets range from $100 to $175. Wine and beer are included with the meal. Friends of Boulder Knoll, a non-profit community farm, will host its annual Farm to Table Dinner on August 27. Chef Jason Sobocinski of Caseus Fromagerie & Bistro prepares dinner with ingredients fresh from the farm, and the event also features beer from Black Hog Brewing Company, drinks and live music. Tickets are $100 before August 1 and $125 after that. Proceeds support the farm’s environmental education programs.  Information and tickets will be available at friendsofboulderknoll.com/dinner.
