Connecticut Restaurants Earn Wine Spectator Awards

Wine Spectator recognizes several Connecticut restaurants for notable wine lists

Wine Spectator recently honored notable restaurant wine lists around the world with its annual Restaurant Awards, including numerous Connecticut entries.

Connecticut winners in its second-tier "Best Of Award Excellence" category include Barcelona Wine Bar with multiple state locations; Bernard’s of Ridgefield, Da Pietro’s of Westport, Fife n’ Drum in Kent, Gabriele’s Italian Steakhouse and Morello Italian Bistro in Greenwich and Max Downtown in Hartford. This award is considered “special recognition to restaurants with lists that also display vintage depth or excellent breadth across several regions,” according to the magazine.

The Award of Excellence category, recognizing "lists that offer a well-chosen selection of quality producers, along with a thematic match to the menu in both price and style,” honored The Capital Grille in Hartford and Stamford, Cava in Southington, David Burke Prime at Foxwoods Resort Casino, Esca in Middletown, Firebox and Vivo Seasonal Trattoria in Hartford, Fleming’s in West Hartford, Go Fish in Mystic, Goodfellas in New Haven, The Griswold Inn in Essex, Kensington’s at the Norwich Inn & Spa, L’Escale in Greenwich; Max Restaurant Group’s Max a Mia in Avon, Max Amore and Max Fish in Glastonbury and Max’s Oyster Bar in West Hartford; Michael Jordan’s Steak House at Mohegan Sun, Octagon at the Mystic Marriott, Ruth's Chris Steak House in Newington and 2Hopewell in South Glastonbury.
