Dunkin' Donuts 'Croissant Donut' Hits Stores

Don't call it a Cronut. @DunkinDonuts introduces its own "croissant-doughnut" hybrid

Don't call it a Cronut. That's a brand trademarked by its inventor, chef Dominique Ansel.

But Dunkin' Donuts is now selling a version of the pastry that went viral and launched dozens of knockoffs worldwide. The "croissant doughnut" hybrids, with 24 layers of dough and a sweet glaze coating, are in stores as of today in limited quantities. Priced at $2.50 apiece, they're served in individual window boxes.

In honor of the launch, anyone who registers for Dunkin' Donuts' DD Perks today through Nov. 17 using the promotional code "DONUTS" is eligible to receive a year's supply of donuts.

And an FYI: The croissant doughnut has 300 calories and 14 grams of fat, according to the company's nutritional information.
