The Mohegan Tribe recently announced it will open the first New England location of Arooga's in Uncasville on March 15, as part of a 15-unit franchise agreement with the Pennsylvania-based restaurant and sports bar chain.
The Arooga's Route 32 location is on Sandy Desert Road, adjacent to Mohegan Sun. The sports bar, with seating for more than 300 guests in a 9,000-square foot space, will offer 100+ television screens, local sports memorabilia, an all-season dining patio equipped with fire pits and movie theater-style stadium seating, according to a news release.
Arooga's menu features wings with 30 signature sauces and rubs; burgers and sandwiches, stromboli and flatbread pizzas, Angus beef franks, fajitas, macaroni and cheese and ribs, with several gluten-free options. The bar's 40 draft lines will spotlight local craft beer selections, and a cocktail list features "fishbowl margaritas," mojitos and sangria.
The first 100 guests at Arooga's will receive free wings for a year, according to the company.
The Mohegan Tribe has invested in other franchise licenses beyond the Mohegan Sun casino resort. In February, the tribe announced it has rights to open 10 Jersey Mike's Subs sandwich shops in Rhode Island and Massachusetts' Worcester County. The tribe also has franchise agreements to open several Smashburger restaurants in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island; its first opened in Waterford in November.
"I'm tremendously excited to welcome this state-of-the-art restaurant experience for friends and family to Uncasville," said Kevin Brown "Red Eagle," chairman of the Mohegan Tribal Council, in a statement. "The new 'full of life' concept for our property Mohegan Sun continues in our partnership with Arooga's as they bring a sense of fresh innovation to our restaurant community in southeastern Connecticut and also bring new jobs to our region."
