Freedom Beer Fest comes to Ansonia's Warsaw Park July 18

The first Freedom Beer Fest is scheduled for July 18 at Ansonia's Warsaw Park, featuring nearly 80 breweries and cider producers, live music, food trucks and specialty vendors.

Local, regional and national breweries will pour samples for tasting, with Connecticut represented by Stony Creek, Pies & Pints, New England Cider, Thimble Island, Broad Brook Brewing, Black Hog, Shebeen, Thomas Hooker, Two Roads, Back East, Charter Oak, Willimantic Brewing, DuVig, Firefly Hollow and Onyx Moonshine. Food trucks include Ruff's Wood Fire Pizza, Whey Station and Poutine Gourmet. 

Tickets for the beer festival are $35 in advance and $45 at the gate. Attendees will receive an ID wristband and tasting mug. General admission tickets are available for $15 in advance; $20 at the gate to visit vendor tents and food trucks, but the official wristband and glass are required to taste beers. Children's tickets are $10 and include root beer and soda tastings. 

The festival begins at 1 p.m.; a VIP happy hour for veterans and active-duty military (with military ID or DD214) starts at noon. The event will benefit Wounded Warrior Project, an organization founded in 2003 that assists injured service members.
