I just don't have room for one more toy.
I realize it's a good problem to have. Between the stuffed toy box and overflowing bins of trinkets, play kitchen and dolly changing table, we are at capacity in our quaint home. My daughters don't even realize half the stuff they have because they just don't see it. I often find myself rearranging so everything is right in front of them so they'll play with it.
So, if you're like me and are struggling to figure out what your children actually "need" Santa to bring them, I thought this list of non-toy ideas inlcludes some great choices. I LOVE giving the gift of an activity, or a place where they can run until they're tired or something they're really into. (like a reading corner, a place to disect bugs or to take care of their babies!)
So, when your family asks "what do the kids need?" Besides clothes (because they inevitably keep growing!) the answer is probably in that list!
And if I'm being totally honest, I bet most parents will appreciate babysitting. If you're on a tight budget like I am, it's easy on the wallet and the kids usually love the quality time with friends and family as much as mom and dad love a night out!
