The library in my town is offering a summer reading program for children. It encourages children to read as many books as possible starting June 17th. You log in your child's name and for every 10 books read (or that you read to them if they're still learning), they get a prize. My daughters and I loosely participated last year, but this year, we're in! Come to find out, it's actually part of a statewide summer reading program during the summer. It's called "2015 Governor's Summer Reading Challenge: Every Hero Has A Story." So, odds are, your local library is participating too! The goal being to stress the importance of reading during the summer when school is out. For all kinds of information, including grade by grade book suggestions, check out this website. I also came across a list of "50 Books All Kids Should Read Before They're 12."
