A children's bookstore in Vernon is offering a free summer Passport Program for kids.
The owner of Jack and Allie's, Barbara Khan, describes it as a "summer town wide Eye-Spy." It's simple. Stop by the bookstore on Hartford Turnpike, sign your child up and start the hunt! Inside the passport, you'll find 8 family-friendly Vernon businesses for kids to visit. Once they get there, they need to find the hidden "Jack and Allie" and ask the employee to stamp their passport. Each child is then entered into a drawing and invited to a party at Jack and Allie's on Saturday, August 22nd. Kids have to visit all 8 places by 5pm on August 21st to be eligible. The grand prize winner will receive a prize worth more than $100! Barbara also tells me they'll have at least 50 additional prizes! It's a great way to support the community, because, although the passport program is free, you're bound to spend a few dollars on an ice cream or an activity while you're there!
