Will the groundhog see her shadow on February 2nd? (and what does that mean again?!)
You can witness her prediction with the kiddos at the Lutz Children's Museum in Manchester!
The museum opens up early and offers free admission from 6-8am on Groundhog Day. You and your family can get a front row seat to see if Chuckles the 8th, Connecticut's official Groundhog, will see her shadow at sunrise. If you're like me and can't remember, according to legend, if Chuckles sees her shadow, that means 6 more weeks of winter, if not, we can expect an early spring! This will be Chuckles' third prediction!
If you didn't already know, groundhogs hibernate in the winter, only waking to have a quick snack or go to the bathroom. However, Kate Morrissey, one of her caretakers, was kind enough to offer up a snack while I was there so I could meet her! Kate said Chuckles will get a bath before her big day and be treated to a feast before heading back to sleep.
The festivities include face painting and snacks and anyone who is there between 6 & 8am can stay and play after the event if they'd like. Check out their website for more information!
