Glitsy Girls

An Ellington mom has figured out how to get the best of both worlds!

Like many parents, Tracy Kearcher was struggling to find a work/life balance. "I loved my profession and working in the cosmetology industry, but I also felt like I was missing a lot of my daughter's life." So she did some soul searching with her husband and is now happy and fulfilled doing both. Kearcher tells me "I had always remembered my 5th grade birthday party which I had at a local salon... my friends and I loved every minute of getting pampered and having fun." That's how the Glitsy Girls Mobile Salon was born. It not only offers those fun princess parties for girls to get pampered, you can book a haircut for mom, the kids or even the whole family, no babysitter needed! They come right to your front door!

As you can imagine, starting a business isn't easy. "My dad helped me design my first website and business flyers, my sister and mother have helped with a party or two, my husband and daughter have been wonderful... stuffing goody bags or being my accountant and support system." She also continues to utilize her professional contacts at Hair Unlimited in Cromwell, who helped her get started. She says Nicole Ramia, a co-worker has "been there by my side the whole time" and Michael Marino, the owner, "has been nothing short of amazing."

Tracy just recently partnered with the owner of Jack and Allie's bookstore in Vernon, which already hosts birthday parties. In case you didn't want to host a birthday party at your home, you can have it at Jack and Allie's with the option of adding on Glitsy Girls services.

You can check out what Glitsy Girls is all about at Jack and Allie's Tuesday, February 9th. They'll be making Valentine's from 4-5pm. Just make sure you pre-register by calling Tracy at (203) 578-0489 or the bookstore at (860) 375-8465. The $5 fee will be waived for anyone who brings their latest reciept from Jack and Allie's.

Glitsy Girls will return to the bookstore Saturday February 20th for Princess Boot Camp from 10-12:30pm. That event also requires you to register beforehand. The kids, who are encouraged to wear their favorite princess attire, will be treated to a sugar scrub station, princess play-doh, fancy hair and a tea party!
