It's what the holiday season is supposed to be about: giving. But it's easy to get caught up in all the shopping, stress and drama that can sometimes accompany the true spirit of the season.

#GivingTuesday, which is today, is about thinking of others. It's about helping charitable organizations you feel passionate about. It's about teaching your children about gratitude, showing your community you care. You can do that with a donation or volunteering.

The movement was started by the the 92nd Street Y, which is a Jewish cultural and community center in New York. According to Beverly Greenfield, who is the Director of Public Relations/Media Relations for the 92nd Street Y, "giving back has always been a huge part of 92Y’s mission... and #GivingTuesday is one way to renew values like giving back and the importance of community for a new generation."

Now in it's fourth year, #GivingTuesday always falls on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Here's some ideas for families this #GivingTuesday.
