At What Age Should a Child Understand a Family's Budget?

I’ve never quite understood why parents are so reluctant to discuss finances with their kids. Knowing how much things cost compared to how much a family earns is a valuable lesson for kids in any socioeconomic class.

Especially here in Connecticut, where many have so much, it seems that teaching kids where the money comes from and where it goes will always be a good thing.

These parents -- who allow their child to scrutinize their spending just might take this notion a bit too far.

Do your kids know how much you earn?
