Take Your Child To The Library Day

I had a newborn and a two year old this time last winter and we needed to get out of the house.  "Take them to the library" my sister said.  Although younger than me, she's wiser and her children are older than mine so she's been down this road before. I brought them for their weekly storytime and haven't looked back!  It's more than a place for kids, I've gotten just as much out of meeting other parents and learned about all kinds of activities happening in my town.

This Saturday is the 4th annual Take Your Child To The Library Day.  Started right here in Connecticut by two librarians, the international initiative encourages families to take their children to the library and learn about all the services and programs they provide.  My local library is offering a fun day featuring therapy dogs kids can read to, museum animals and face painting, so I'm probably just as excited to take them.

Check out this link which includes information about the event as well as a map outlining which Connecticut towns have libraries that are participating.  There's also a facebook page.
