'Footprints On Our Hearts' Inspires and Heals

Last year, I produced a moving Mommy Minute segment on the Hygeia Foundation, a non-profit infant-loss support group, based in Woodbridge.

The organization, recently renamed Hope After Loss, is planning it's fourth annual Footprints on Our Hearts Walk, which provides comfort, connections and care to families who have experienced the death of a baby, either during pregnancy or infancy.

The walk will take place Sunday, October 5th at East Shore Park in New Haven, beginning at 1pm.

In a press release, Executive Directot Gillian Eversman says:  "In 2013, nearly 500 people attended our Footprints on Our Hearts Walk and we joined together to raise over $53,000.  It was profoundly moving to see so many women, men and children walking together in remembrance."

This year, the group has a fundraising goal of $55,000.

All money raised will benefit the group's programs, such as free bereavement support services, as well as burial assistance for low-income families.

The event takes place in October to honor national Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month.
