Ahhh! It's been three straight days of walks, and boy did I need them!
I'm sure I'm not the only mama with major cabin fever after this winter. Not only did it snow seemingly every Sunday night for a month, we also experienced record cold temperatures. Not exactly the kind of weather you can bundle up the kids and make a snowman, it's dangerous cold. So, I did what many other parents did, I found every budget-conscious, kid-friendly activity I could. We frequented museums, libraries, open gyms, bounce houses, you name it, just to get out of the house and get rid of their energy. There's only so many times you can make play-doh or use glitter glue or have a dance party at home, right? Anyway, so, the trouble with winter and being cooped up in the house and at school and at all those places, is the germs. I think we were at the pediatricians as much as we were home. So, this past weekend, when the weather changed, I grabbed the kids and the dog and headed outside. Still in our winter coats, hats and mittens, we went for a walk and have every day since. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping and there are buds on the trees. After shivering all winter long, the sun felt great and that fresh air is amazing. Not only do I feel better, after forcing my oldest daughter outside during a temper tantrum, we returned to the house, she on piggy-back, laughing, saying, "this is the best!" Bring on Spring! It's next week and, dare I say, finally starting to feel like it?
