One of the perks of all this snow?
More time on the mountain.
And, this weekend, you and the kids can head to Ski Sundown in New Hartford for a good cause.
A ski-a-thon to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation is taking place Sunday, March 8th, between 9:00am and 12:30pm.
Madeline Moore and Julia Redfield, both 12 year olds from East Granby, planned the event. The long-time best friends and role models participate in their middle school's ski club program at Ski Sundown.
From a press release:
“We learned about the Make-A-Wish Foundation through our participation in ski races where event proceeds were donated to this foundation. Make-A-Wish grants wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions, and we really want to help,” said Julia Redfield. Last year, Madeline and Julia raised $225 by running hot chocolate and lemonade stands, and collecting returnable cans and bottles. “This year, we wanted our fundraising amount to be even bigger, so we decided to create our own ski event at Ski Sundown. We have also worked really hard on the teacup auction, and have a great variety of items, like restaurant and store gift certificates, Ski Sundown lift tickets, toys, things for your pets, and more! Local businesses have been really generous,” said Madeline Moore.
Drawings will be held at 1:00pm.
Registration takes place between 7:30-9:00am. A minimum donation of $10.00 and a lift ticket are required.
