I've been there.
You just have a "quick" errand to run with the kids but it's snowing. Quick is in quotes because I know nothing is ever quick with children, especially in the winter with the coats, mittens and boots. Add the diaper bag if that appies to you and you feel like a champion even getting out of the house at all in winter sometimes.
We live in New England, so unless you want to spend the entire season inside, chances are, you'll venture out at some point when it's snowing or freezing rain. But, today I found some great tips your family should consider before heading out on days like today.
Consider making a trip to the hardware store (depending how handy you are) or calling your mechanic for a check up of sorts. You don't want to get stuck in the freezing cold, especially with the kids in the car!
This list provided by AAA is a great place to start. It includes tips on navigating those slicks spots as well as what kinds of supplies you should have on hand in the back seat, just in case! I didn't see a shovel on the list but have needed that before along with some kitty litter! It's also a good idea to have a flashlight and a blanket in there!
Drive safe and of course, stay home if the roads are a mess!
