I’m not saying that an actor can’t ugly up to play a role, but this news is ridiculous: Rob Lowe will star as accused wife killer Drew Peterson in Lifetime’s TV movie “The Drew Peterson Story, aka Lady Killer.”
Ahhh, Lifetime, I do love your torn-from-the-headlines movies, cheesy as they might be. But I can’t see forever sexy Lowe putting on a ‘stache–and pounds–to play the former Bolingbrook cop who is awaiting trial for the alleged murder of his third wife, Kathleen Savio.
Have you seen the real Drew Peterson? If Lowe pulls this off, someone deserves an Emmy. (Maybe the make-up artist?)
I figured this news would give the notoriously arrogant Peterson another ego boost, but Peterson said he was kinda disappointed by the choice, the Tribune and WGN-TV reported Wednesday.
“If I was ever in a movie, I was hoping that I would be portrayed by Denzel Washington, but I guess Rob Lowe is OK,” Peterson told his lawyer, Joel Brodsky.
He should be lucky anyone wants to play him.
The project is based on Joseph Hosey’s book, “Fatal Vows: The Tragic Wives of Drew Peterson,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. To fill you in, Kathleen Savio was found drowned in an empty bathtub in 2004. Peterson’s fourth wife, Stacy, went missing in 2007. Peterson has denied involvement in both cases.
Kaley Cuoco of “The Big Bang Theory” will play Stacy, according to THR.
