A little vamping music please…: Music Theatre of Connecticut in Norwalk opens its new facility and its 2014-15 season with the revue, “The World Goes ‘Round: The Songs of Kander & Ebb” celebrating the work of the Broadway composing team of John Kander and Fred Ebb, with songs from “Chicago,” “Cabaret,” “Kiss of the Spider Woman” and others shows starting Friday and continuing through Nov. 23. The Equity cast includes Kathy Calahan (Broadway’s “Mary Poppins”), Melissa Carlile-Price (national tour of “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels”), Eric Scott Kincaid (Broadway’s “Aspects of Love,” “Cats”), Tricia Rapier (Broadway’s “Sister Act,” “The Boy from Oz”) and Aaron Young (national tour of “Cabaret”). “The World Goes ‘Round” is directed by MTC co-founder and executive artistic director Kevin Connors. A little post-election fun: What did Lady Bird Johnson, Pat Nixon and Betty Ford really think about their husbands, the presidency and their time in Washington? Connecticut College presents “Tea for Three: Lady Bird, Pat & Betty,” on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in Evans Hall, Cummings Arts Center on the college campus in New London. Elaine Bromka (TV’s “Girls,” “The Sopranos,” “E.R.”) co-wrote the piece with Eric. H. Weinberger and plays all three First Ladies. Freedom rings again: Hartford’s Bated Breath Theatre Company will again present “Freedom: In Three Acts” tonight at St. Joseph University’s Center for Arts and Humanities at 7:30 p.m., an original play developed by Bated Breath in collaboration with The Amistad Center for Art & Culture. Drawing inspiration from “Emancipation!,” an Amistad Center exhibit featuring artifacts and images from the time of the Emancipation Proclamation to the present, the theater piece explores emancipation and the struggle for civil rights through song in three short, theatrical vignettes and features Jolie Rocke Brown, in the role of Marian Anderson. 860-231-5555 and http://www.batedbreaththeatre.org.

Say the secret word…: Frank Ferrante who the New York Times called “the greatest living interpreter of Groucho Marx’s material” will present his show “Groucho: A Life in Revue.” Friday at 8 p.m. at the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center in Old Saybrook. http://www.katharinehepburntheater.org.

Edgy drama: Before “Doubt,” John Patrick Shanley wrote “Danny and the Deep Blue Sea,” a play about two misfit lovers that will kick off Playhouse on Park’s “On the Edge” series Thursday and continue through Nov. 16 at the West Hartford theater. Sean Harris directs Erin Krom (Sally Bowles in the theater’s “Cabaret”) and Jonathan Gregg in the play, which is suggested for those 16 and up. http://www.playhouseonpark.org.
