Craig Ferguson is headed for his farewell episode of “The Late Late Show” on CBS on Dec. 19. And his final guest knows a thing or two about late-night send-offs — he’s had two of them himself.
Former “Tonight Show” host Jay Leno will be Ferguson’s guest on the final show.
Leno, who ended his run on “The Tonight Show” in 2009, returned to the show in 2010 and then signed off again (for good) in 2014, has a new series in the works at CNBC. Tentatively titled “Jay Leno’s Garage,” the show will focus on the comedian’s love of cars.
Leno is currently making the late-night talk show rounds. He is set to return to “The Tonight Show” on Friday, this time as a guest of current host Jimmy Fallon.
Leno will no doubt coach Ferguson on how to handle his post-late-night life. But it looks as if Ferguson already has some career options, including hosting the syndicated game show “Celebrity Name Game.”
Among the other guests announced for Ferguson’s final shows are Lisa Kudrow, former co-star Drew Carey, Carrie Fisher, Rashida Jones, Larry King and Jim Parsons.
Ferguson will also have final appearances from some of his most frequent guests, including Tim Meadows (41 appearances), Thomas Lennon (30 appearances), Betty White (23 appearances) and Henry Winkler (22 appearances).
British comedian James Corden will take over “Late Late Show” in March.
