“Revenge”returned this week to give us a bit of closure after the engagement party — only to leave us hanging a full month until its return! Many questions around what actually happened at the engagement party were answered, but the episode ultimately only left us with more questions.

I had wondered how the writers would manage to keep everyone in the Hamptons after Labor Day, and apparently an ongoing murder investigation will keep everyone right where they belong. Unfortunately for Daniel, that is in a maximum security prison, but at least he will escape from the chaos that is sure to unfold at home. Victoria and Conrad back living under the same roof is certainly going to end in fireworks, especially with Ashley hoping to launch a public relations career off of their family woes. Declan’s covering for Jack will force him to prove Charlotte was wrong in what she saw, and fortunately she is popping enough pills that this will be very easy for him to do.

On the plus side, it is nice to finally know how Conrad was involved with terrorism. On the negative side, we don’t know where Amanda actually is (I don’t believe the Canada suggestion; no one on this show ever strays far). The mysteries continue!

And the biggest question, who will Emily protect — Amanda, who knows all of her secrets and is pretty much the only friend she had before this summer; or Jack, her first love who is completely innocent in all of this. I’d say odds are in Jack’s favor, but with all of his snooping around, he’s bound to make this difficult.

Awards

“Oh, Snap!” of the week: “Maybe your time in the juvenile detention center will come in handy during Daniel’s court case.” Anyone else notice these awards always seem to be given to Victoria or Emily, and always in an exchange between the two?

Worst wound care: The image of the gash on the back of Daniel’s head while he is being interrogated is not even remotely believable. It just looks like a sticker (which I suspect it is).

Most affected by global warming: Emily appears to be dressed in all fall fashion, including possibly a winter coat after walking Sammy. It’s only September! Ashley and Charlotte’s legs remain on display, though I suspect this is the case even in the dead of winter.

Best crossover: Daniel’s lawyer is Assistant District Attorney Ron Carver from “Law and Order: Criminal Intent.” With all that experience, he’s definitely the top lawyer in New York!

Most age-inappropriate dressing: For someone engaged to a college frat boy, Emily is dressed like a 35-year-old trophy wife.

Most awkward moment of the episode: Emily attempting to console Charlotte on the swing.

Most overdone scene: I’m not sure who on the production team is so into the slow-motion run to show passion, but Victoria has now slow-motion run to Daniel’s rescue in the past two episodes. With the drama just beginning, I don’t think the trend is ending any time soon.
