Donald Stephens

Rosemont Mayor Donald Stephens leaves the Dirksen Federal Building during the lunch recess of his trial on federal tax fraud and bribery charges on February 13, 1984. Stephens was acquitted in the trial and served as Rosemont's mayor up until his death in 2007. But Stephens --who served 13 terms as Rosemont's mayor, starting when the village was incorporated in 1956-- was often rumored to have associations with organized crime figures. These alleged associations were instrumental in the Illinois Gaming Board's decision to revoke a state-issued casino license for Rosemont in 2005.
