Miley Cyrus caused a stir during New York Fashion Week by showing up at a party shirtless, wearing nothing above the waist but pasties shaped like ice-cream cones. Those pasties were made by Jennifer Jacobs of Hartford.

“The designer Alexander Wang threw an after-party. There was a lot of press there,” Jacobs said in a phone interview. “On Sunday night a friend of mine posted an article on my Facebook wall. I kind of like stared at the picture in disbelief. I thought, those look like mine.”

Jacobs said she sells her products online on etsy.com — her store is called BadBunnyShop — as well as selling products wholesale to a retail website, shopjeen.com. Shopjeen gave Cyrus several items for free, including the pasties. “I couldn’t have asked for better publicity,” Jacobs said. Cyrus can be seen wearing the pasties in her Instagram photos

Jacobs said Shopjeen has put in an order for more of her pasties, not just ice cream cones, but also strawberries, anchors, tuxedoes and poke-balls from the Pokemon game. Jacobs also makes leggings, underwears, skirts, bows, pillows and other items.

Jacobs, who lives in the West End, will participate in the Hartford Art Crawl on Thursday, Sept. 18 downtown. To read more about the Art Crawl, visit hartfordartcrawl.com.
